Oli’s Italian Eatery 339 West Boylston St West Boylston, MA 508 854-1500
Oli’s Hours: Monday - Thursday 11am - 9pm Friday & Saturday 11am - 10pm Sunday 12pm - 8pm
We happened upon Oli’s by chance when driving by looking for another restaurant! It is in a small plaza right on the edge of a row of stores and had a nice welcoming look to it. I saw their advertisements and menu in an ad, so we thought we’d give it a try!
The entrance to dine is either through their pick/up delivery side, which was a little unwelcoming, or through their bakery. We went for lunch, and were seated right away. Very nice open atmosphere, with scattered tables in one average sized room. Very family oriented, lots of children, and quick service, but again, we were there for lunch, not to sit and linger over our meal.
We decided to try a few of their interesting appetizers. The risotto balls had a perfect balance of cheeses, moistness and crispiness. They were served with a tasty zesty marinara sauce. The menu offered two flavors of calamari, one breaded lightly and deep fried, yet we chose the Tuscan calamari, which was laced with tomatoes, black olives, oil and garlic, and served with mini garlic crostinis. Delicious and fairly priced.
The menu had a large selection of Italian favorites, Chicken Fontina, Eggplant Parm, Chicken Picatta, Chicken Parm, along with seafood, beef and pasta dishes, all with an Italian flair. I thought the Fire and Ice Ravioli sounded interesting, and it was fantastic. Sauteed chicken, tossed with olives, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic and mushrooms, seasoned to perfection, then served over spinach ravioli with a delectable white wine sauce and finished with feta cheese.
My dining partner decided to try the baked manicotti, which was a perfect blend of smooth cheeses, baked with a nice crispy top and served with a meatball and garlic bread.
Diners have a choice of pastas; Angel Hair, Linguine and Penne and offered as a side, it is served with fresh stewed tomatoes, basil and garlic. There is also an offering of burgers, pizza, calzones, and a nicely priced kid’s menu, along with wraps, subs, soups and also a huge selection of very unique salads for those health conscious diners.
Beer and wine is served, no mixed drinks. A very easy handicap entrance and very clean spacious restrooms.
Oli’s also offers a very extensive catering menu, check out their website, www.oliseatery.com for an extensive catering menu or follow them on Facebook or Twitter.
Overall a great restaurant find, with high quality Italian favorites along with a nicely priced menu in a comfortable casual atmosphere. Enjoy!

The Mountain Barn 174 Worcester Rd Princeton MA 978 464 2044
We just can't seem to get enough of this restaurant! Every time we go, they never fail! It's a restaurant that has that "comfort-feel-good" feeling.
It's truly a beautiful drive to The Mountain Barn , traveling past Wachusett Mountain along the bottom base of the mountain, then look east along the open stretch where you can see Boston on a clear day, or, driving from the south along Rt 31, passing farms, fields and ponds.
With a large parking lot and easy handicap access, you enter the restaurant with the hostess stand right at the doors, with the lounge to your right and a nice little waiting area. A huge black board greets you with their daily drink, appetizer, meal and dessert specials. The menu has a wide range of dishes. Appetizer are the standard potato skins, wings, stuffed mushrooms, soup. Main Dishes range from burgers, sandwiches, pasta, their famous prime rib, lots of steak choices, 5 poultry dishes, salmon, shrimp, scallops, and their daily fish special, and the wonderful "comfort food" menu - Meatloaf, Yankee Pot Roast, Turkey, Pork Chops and Sole. Yummy!! A great kids menu also. All meals come with a fresh salad with a good selection of dressings, a potato or rice, a vegetable and a basket of warm rolls and butter. A great assortment of homemade desserts are also a must to try!
Dining is set in a huge natural wood cathedral ceiling room, with old artifacts hung on the walls. Most tables are wooden, with bench seating, very cozy. Behind the main Dining area is another cozy room with scattered tables for large parties, along with fantastic views.
If you are waiting for a table, grab a drink at the bar and wander upstairs to the loft, where you will find very comfortable plush couches and chairs and even a pool table.
The lounge is open Wednesdays from 5 - 9 pm, offering their pub menu and the Dining room is open Thursdays from 4:30 - 9 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 4:30 - 10 pm, Sundays from 12 - 9 pm.
Prices are very reasonable for what you are served, the servers go above and beyond, no matter how busy they are and we never felt rushed or ignored. Check out their website for daily specials.
Enjoy... you will not be disappointed!

Black Sheep Tavern
With the grills put away, and the cold weather keeping us indoors, why not drive over to The Black Sheep Tavern at 261 Leominster Rd Sterling MA
The tavern is very inviting, with about a dozen high top tables scattered about the tavern, and a long bar with comfortable seating.
The Black Sheep Tavern serves typical pub fare, along with the some of the absolute BEST pizza creations around! There are salads for the healthy conscious, lots of variations with their burgers ,subs, clubs and roll-ups, quesadillas, wings, and a mouth watering chili loaded nacho plate. Their pizza is outstanding, with a smooth thinner than average crust. Try the speciality pizzas, smokehouse chicken, chicken caesar, buffalo chicken, BLT, bacon cheeseburger, along with tons of toppings to create your own!
The most positive thing about The Black Sheep Tavern is their servers. They were spot on, always there when needed, extremely friendly, and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Most Saturday nights they have local bands, starting at 9 pm. It's also a great sports barn, with dozens of TV's playing around the room along with KENO!!
Great place... stop by and give it a try!
